And so it is
Well, mainly worried about Socrates. He's getting to where there are more bad days then good. He's still coherent and responsive but he just sleeps and you can tell that he's not feeling good at all. I'm afraid we're going to start heading down hill from here and it sucks. I know that they said that the average life expectancy for ferrets with insulinoma is 6-24 months with treatment after diagnosis. He was diagnosed the end of October/1st of November. He's gained so much weight with the prednisolone and he's having such a hard time with his back legs spasming and loosing control of them some (it's not just the weight it was happening before he got fat though the weight doesn't help matters any). We've been doing ferret water aerobics to try to help strengthen the muscles and put him in the ferret flyer wheelchair (not strapped in since he'll actually use it that way) and gotten him to move around some. It's just very short bursts. I'm kind of running out of ideas to try to help loose the weight. We try to space out his feedings so he's not being over fed but we have to be careful not to under feed so his blood sugar stays stable. When we can't tell if he's been drinking water we syringe him some just to make sure he's hydrated. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
